The Tortured Temple Elephant : Sasthamkotta Neelakandan

Neelakandan the temple elephant of Ayyappa temple, Sasthamkotta Kollam was chained for more than 3 years. Through our court proceeding the elephant was freed but died in the custody of forest department on 29th December 2019. It was found that the department has no medical facility or doctors. The court ordered to construct a full fledged veterinary hospital with Elephant Rehabilitation Centre at Kottoor. But even after commissioning the project and building a whole awful concrete complex in Kottoor, there is still no proper care or medical treatment there. The elephants in the centre are being kept there flouting all the existing laws present in Elephant rehabilitation. We have raised an allegation of Rs. 105 crores corruption. But the judge unconditionally favoured the Forest Department! We ought to boycott the High Court in truth.
