A large number of trees providing shade and relief for auto rickshaw drivers were chopped off at Pulluvazhi junction, Perumbavoor, and sold to a saw mill. This was done by the advice of the shop owners, that the trees were a hindrance for their shops. A case had been registered with the Kuruppampady police station. Thousands of people witnessed this incident, but no one was ready to submit an eyewitness statement. The case is still pending.
