Camel Slaughter: Two Held at Malappuram

Malappuram, Karuvarakundu: We have stumbled upon newspapers glorifying camel slaughter in Malappuram. A few youths introduced a new trade to experience camel meat in Kerala to beat off beef market. They illegally smuggled two camels from Rajasthan and slaughtered one and published in the media, dreaming high opportunity. We have filed a case by then the officers are baffled about the law. So the Superintendent of Police

initiated steps to register the case after a few days of confusion, and two youths booked under IPC 429. This case is one of the most talked-about cases in  Kerala because nobody was aware of the restriction on camel meat in India.  The impact was tremendous.

A complaint was filed against the newspaper Malayala Manorama for glorifying killing with the Press Council of India. We appeared in the Magistrate Court- Mancheri. The police could not produce any witnesses for the incident
